According to entertainment insider Daniel RPK, Universal is said to be working on a fresh live-action adaptation of the beloved Dr. Seuss Christmas story. The rumour recently gained major attention online after entertainment account “Popped” shared the report on social media:

At the moment, Universal has not officially confirmed the project, and there are currently no details regarding casting, directors, or a potential release date. It is also unclear whether the movie would be a reboot, sequel, or completely new reimagining of the classic festive story.
The report has already sparked huge reactions from Christmas movie fans, with many wondering if anyone could ever replace Jim Carrey’s iconic performance as the Grinch in the 2000 live-action movie directed by Ron Howard.
More than 25 years later, How the Grinch Stole Christmas remains one of the most popular Christmas movies ever made and continues to be watched every holiday season around the world.
The Grinch franchise has remained hugely successful for Universal over the years, especially through merchandise, theme park events like “Grinchmas,” and the 2018 animated movie voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch.
While nothing has been officially announced yet, the rumour alone has already got fans talking — and debating whether a new live-action Grinch movie is a brilliant idea… or one that should be left in Whoville. 🎄
