Peppermint Bark Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 12 ounces (340g) of high-quality white chocolate, chopped
  • 12 ounces (340g) of high-quality dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1/2 cup crushed candy canes or peppermint candies

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Pan:

    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Melt the Dark Chocolate:

    • Place the chopped dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
    • Set the bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method) and stir until completely melted and smooth.
    • Remove the bowl from the heat and stir in 1/2 teaspoon of peppermint extract.
    • Pour the melted dark chocolate onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it into an even layer.
    • Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes, or until the chocolate is firm.
  3. Melt the White Chocolate:

    • Repeat the melting process with the white chocolate in a clean heatproof bowl.
    • Stir in the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of peppermint extract once melted and smooth.
    • Pour the melted white chocolate over the hardened dark chocolate layer.
    • Spread it evenly to cover the dark chocolate layer completely.
  4. Add the Candy Canes:

    • Immediately sprinkle the crushed candy canes or peppermint candies over the top of the white chocolate layer.
    • Gently press the candy pieces into the white chocolate to ensure they stick.
  5. Set the Bark:

    • Allow the peppermint bark to sit at room temperature until completely set, or place it in the refrigerator for faster setting (about 20-30 minutes).
  6. Break into Pieces:

    • Once the bark is fully set, lift it from the baking sheet and break it into pieces of your desired size.
  7. Store and Serve:

    • Store the peppermint bark in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
    • Serve and enjoy your festive treat!

This peppermint bark makes for a perfect holiday gift or a delightful addition to your Christmas dessert table. Enjoy!
