A new Christmas musical is heading to cinemas on 6 November 2026, but Drummer Boy might not be quite what you're expecting.
From Angel Studios and the Grammy-winning musical duo for KING + COUNTRY, the film takes audiences back to the American Revolutionary War, where two brothers find themselves fighting on opposite sides of the conflict.

A Different Kind of Christmas Movie
Rather than snowy villages, festive romances and Christmas magic, Drummer Boy explores family, freedom, sacrifice and forgiveness through an emotional musical journey.
Directed by brothers Ben and Joel Smallbone, the film stars Joel Smallbone alongside Lucas Leach, Iain Glen, Ioan Gruffudd and Melora Hardin.
Although officially described as a Christmas musical, its Revolutionary War setting makes it rather different from the usual festive releases.
Drummer Boy arrives in cinemas on 6 November 2026 in the US and selected other countries, with further international release details still to be confirmed.
So, what do you think? Does Drummer Boy deserve a place on your Christmas movie watchlist, or is it not festive enough?
